Djuma Game Reserve - named from the Shangaan word meaning "roar of the lion" - is part of the world-renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Bordering on the Kruger National Park, there is no dividing fence between the two reserves and therefore Djuma's 9 000 hectares is part of the vast Kruger National Park ecosystem. The 'Big Five' are regularly sighted at Djuma, as well as many other mammals. Djuma also offers an abundance of bird life with over three hundred species of birds. Djuma is run by Jurie Moolman (biologist and ecologist) and his wife, Phillipa. Together with rangers and trackers they will provide you with a memorable safari experience. You will be woken early for a game drive to watch the sunrise, return to the lodge for breakfast, and then have free time to relax. Or you may venture on a guided bush walk. In the late afternoon you may join the evening game drive and enjoy a 'sundowner' as evening descends. This drive will develop into a night drive with spotlights to reveal some of the elusive nocturnal creatures of the African veld. Back at the lodge dinner will be served around a fire under the stars.
